All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking or vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.

Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Preston, you must be at least 21 years old, though specific age restrictions may apply depending on the vehicle selected. A valid driving license for the appropriate category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Please ensure you have valid payment details and a security deposit. Additional conditions may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations for Car Hire can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Preston office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time you collect your vehicle. All charges are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. Ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may lead to extra fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate being late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, and charges that occur during your rental, along with a small administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with complete coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. You may also explore additional insurance options to limit your financial liability. Please review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of any insurance policies in place.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses:
- Prohibited activities include any illegal use of the vehicle, participation in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other high-risk actions. Transporting hazardous materials, subletting to unauthorized individuals, or permitting unapproved drivers are also not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Additionally, vehicles must not exceed designated passenger or weight limits, nor should they be driven outside of agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent.
Non-compliance may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Preston will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for the rental within the past 12 months, except where negligence results in death or personal injury or in cases of fraud.
